The band made the anticipated trip to Dumbarton bright and
breezy, and after a few good practices running up to the scottish
championships, in quietly confident mood that we would do
well.
We got there in good time, had a wander about for 15 or so
minutes and had a quick chanter/pad and sticks practice.
Most of us made our way to watch the first 4 band in grade
1 (the women probably had a cup of tea or looked at shoes
or whatever it is that women do).
We got back, and got out our pipes and with over 1 hour and
a half to go we were prepared.... or so we thought. Having
tuned up and making our way to another area of the park, we
were almost late. After rushing on, everyone was a bit on
edge, and the performance was a bit poop.
That was unfortunate, however, Deeside being Deeside, we still
managed to have one heck of a party on the bus, with a few
of us going back to young Amy's house for a party (Her parents
were on holiday woo hoo) and I think we woke the neighbours
by playing the pipes at 1 in the morning.
Better Luck next time
