Turriff was playing host to the British championships this
year, only 5 bands entered to compete and having won Quartettes
with the MSR already in 2004, Deeside was feeling quite optimistic
about its chances for a good placing. After a rainy start
to the day, the weather cleared up nicely and things were
going well, despite the bus having to reverse around a roundabout!.
In
the circle everyone felt good and relaxed and were told that
they had the best sound at the time of playing. The MSR ended
well and the band marched off quite contented. However, some
'interesting' judging decisions in 3A relegated what was a
good performance to 5th overall. However, never a band to
let questionable judging get them down, Deeside will bounce
back and show what they are made of at Aberdeen games in a
weeks time!
Special
mention must also go to the Kirkwall City band who became
4B British Champions on Saturday. Deeside would like to congratulate
them on a magnificent achievement and hope to see them down
to take a crack at the worlds in August (imagine the party
then lads!)
